The Brobecks
Salt Lake City, UT
About
Formed in 2002 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Brobecks emerged from the dissolution of 1000 West. The name was chosen as an "homage to the unpopular," inspired by a student named Jamie Brobeck. Their first show was at Kilby Court, attended only by family and coworkers. By their third show, they had sold it out to strangers - the moment Dallon Weekes knew he wanted to pursue music forever. The band's sound spans indie pop, power pop, and electropop, influenced by The Beatles, Weezer, and Elvis Costello. Their 2009 album "Violent Things" includes the hit "Second Boys Will Be First Choice" which reached #1 on KXRK's daily rotation. After Dallon Weekes joined Panic! at the Disco in 2009, the band went on hiatus. In 2024, original members Dallon Weekes, Michael Gross, Matt Glass, and Bryan Szymanski reunited. A documentary "Not Dead Yet" is in the works, and they confirmed new material is coming in March 2025. "Happiest Nuclear Winter" was remastered and re-released on January 1, 2025.
